This volume provides a cross-section of the previous contributions to the Stuttgart Competence Days. Each Competence Day is dedicated to a special focus; for example, at the past symposia we asked ourselves how competence development is anchored in higher education curricula, which competence models are applied in companies. Each time, we also looked beyond the German horizon and asked ourselves: What are the others actually doing in the field of competences? What connects all the contributions so far is the deep need and great satisfaction of talking about human education.
