Prof. Dr. habil. Heiko von der Gracht, Chair of Futures Studies at the School of International Business and Entrepreneurship (SIBE) at Steinbeis University, has been nominated for this year’s “Most Significant Futures Works” award. With this award, the Association of Professional Futurists (APF) annually honors the best scientific work from various subfields of futurology.
Prof. von der Gracht was nominated this year in the category “Contributions that advance the methodology and practice of foresight and futures research”. Criticism is mainly directed at the influence of works on the discipline, originality, resilience of the results and usefulness for practical application.
“For every established futurologist, the nomination for this prominent award is already an outstanding honour and ennoblement of his or her work. Especially in our crisis-ridden times, the award is of great importance for the future of our society. Thanks to its outstanding position, politics, business, and citizens emphatically recognize how forward-looking and beneficial futurology is for all of us,” says Prof. von der Gracht about the award ceremony and his nomination.
The Most Significant Futures Works Award is presented annually by the Association of Professional Futurists (APF). Nominations are made only by members of the APF for works that are particularly successful and relevant to the discipline. Following the nomination, the jury, consisting of annually changing members of the organization, decides which works will receive the award for their respective category.
The Association of Professional Futurists is a global community of futurologists dedicated to promoting professional standards of excellence in their discipline and the value of strategic foresight and futures research.
The SIBE keeps its fingers crossed for Prof. von der Gracht’s nominations and wishes him every success!
