In the joint research project of the Center for Advanced Studies of Eurac Research in cooperation with the Institute for Regional Development of Eurac Research, the School of International Business and Entrepreneurship (SIBE) of Steinbeis University, the Tourism Research Cluster of Curtin University, and IDM South Tyrol, a scientific basis for regional tourism development 2030+ (LTEK 2030+) for South Tyrol was developed. Under the title “Ambition Habitat South Tyrol. On the way to a new tourism culture”, the project’s overarching goal was to launch a sustainable and spatially compatible tourism development in South Tyrol that is supported by broad sections of the population. The study, which has now been published, provides an overview of the current tourism situation in South Tyrol, shows an outlook and a desirable development for 2030+, and formulates concrete tourism policy action recommendations oriented towards sustainable, landscape-friendly, and balanced development.
